da lvbet: Declan Rice has been handed a final offer by West Ham as the contract saga rumbles on, according to Claret & Hugh.
What’s the word?
Bursting onto the scene last season under Slaven Bilic, Declan Rice became a regular part of the first-team squad during David Moyes’ short stint in East London and, after a slow start, has fought his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.
Widely regarded to be on the best young talents in the Premier League and currently in the midst of an international tug of war between the Republic of Ireland and England, West Ham are understandably desperate to keep hold of the teenager.
According to Claret & Hugh, the Hammers have made a final offer to bring the contract saga concerning the 19-year-old to a close and have informed the player negotiations will be put on hold until the end of the season if a deal is not agreed.
Will Rice sign?
The contract on the table for Rice is a considerable improvement upon the previous offers he has been given, with the report stating the deal offers a basic wage of £21k-a-week with a bonus of £20k for every Premier League start, with £10k for a substitute appearance and £5k if he stays on the bench.

On top of that, Rice’s contract will rise by £5k with every 15 starts he earns but the Hammers have adopted a firm stance in an attempt to corner the player in negotiations, as they will walk away if the deal is rejected – which would see the player remain on his current £2.5k-a-week deal until the end of the season.
The offer is certainly more appealing but West Ham are taking a huge risk with their game of poker as they go all-in to retain the services of their academy graduate as, while they are prepared to walk away from negotiations, other Premier League sides could eye a move to take advantage.
