Leeds United’s U23s’ game against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday was slightly more interesting than any regular youth match.
Indeed, the clash saw Jean-Kevin Augustin make his first appearance in a United shirt, and unfortunately, the Frenchman’s debut didn’t go as planned.
Not only did the striker fail to score for the U23s outfit, but he went down injured just before half-time.
It’s unknown how serious the problem was as the attacker was hooked during the interval, and he was attempting to get back into the game before the whistle went.
The club’s official Twitter went with the line that the substitution was always planned, but some fans weren’t buying that.

Understandably, a number of United supporters were concerned by the news that the striker had been subbed at the break.
One fan was worried that the club were lying about the switch being planned, while another implored the club to reveal whether he’s injured or not.
Other supporters had a much cooler reaction as they took the club’s statement at face value.
They believed that the substitution was always planned and that he’ll be fine for the weekend.
You can only hope that these fans’ optimism is well-placed, but time will tell whether or not they’re right to trust the club or not.
In other news, Phil Hay has struggled to explain one baffling Leeds trait.
