Jota, meanwhile, was constantly at the heart of the action on and off the ball. Out of possession, he worked his socks off for the team. Via SofaScore, he won nine of his 12 ground duels as he won an impressive six tackles and made one clearance when asked to defend his own goal.
This shows that he was putting the effort in off the ball in order to stop opposition attacks and create counter-attacking situations for the Hoops, allowing the dynamo to then work his magic in the final third.
Offensively, he was bright throughout, creating an outstanding five chances in the match, whilst also completing three of his four attempted dribbles. He had 105 touches of the ball in the 90 minutes and completed 59 passes, which highlights how active he was in possession for Celtic as he was always looking to get on the ball.
Jota was a thorn in Dundee’s side all afternoon and was the instigator of so many attacks for the Hoops, which is why he was the real star of the show. Giakoumakis deserves credit for being on his toes and providing the finishes when needed, but his Portuguese teammate’s overall performance was the pick of the bunch.
