da bet7: According to reports in The Times, West Ham United are eyeing a summer move for Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph and he could be available for £12m, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph last month.
What’s the word, then?
da bet nacional: Well, The Times has listed the 27-year-old among a number of summer targets for the Irons, as Slaven Bilic looks to significantly strengthen his squad before next season.
With Havard Nordtveit already leaving to join Hoffenheim after just one year at the London Stadium, the Croatian could be looking to sign a central midfielder and Delph might fit the bill.
The England international has struggled to break into the first team at the Etihad since making an £8m move from Aston Villa two years ago.
How did Delph do last season?
It was another difficult campaign for the midfielder in Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge, and he made just 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
He did also miss three months with a muscle injury, but the fact that the 27-year-old failed to make the matchday squad for the final seven Premier League matches would suggest that he is surplus to requirements and will leave in the coming weeks.
Would he be a good signing for West Ham?
While he has struggled to make an impression with City, Irons fans will remember how important and what an impressive performer he was for Aston Villa beforehand, where he was the captain.
The 27-year-old also became a key player for England following the 2014 World Cup, but he has fallen out of favour because of injury and lack of playing time following his move to the Etihad.
The fact that he could be available for just £12m will also be attractive for the east London outfit as transfer prices look set to go through the roof this summer.
Where would he fit in at West Ham?
While the Irons have the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate, Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble available to them in the middle of the park, Delph could certainly provide some energy and a box-to-box presence from central midfield and he would bring something a little different to the table.
What’s the verdict, then?
Well, if West Ham can sign Delph £12m and he recaptures the form he showed at Aston Villa previously, he could turn out to be something of a bargain buy.
