da brwin: As reported by The Daily Mail, Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is hoping that the club can continue their excellent forward momentum through the tail-end of the season.
What’s the story?
da bwin: The Light Blues have won eight of their last ten matches in all competitions and have a great chance of extending that further this weekend when they face Falkirk at Ibrox in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
The positive feeling around the club is growing with every match, to the extent that some are now predicting they could win major honours by the end of the season.
Asked whether there’s a feeling they could achieve that, break-out star Docherty refused to predict anything, but is hopeful the progress can continue.
As quoted by The Daily Mail, the 21-year-old said:
I think momentum is a big thing and we are gathering that at the moment. We just want to keep going and if we can take this momentum into every game then fantastic.
We just need to keep building and it is great for us to bounce back after the Hibs disappointment with five wins. That is big for us.
The manager and the coaching staff have got us set up correctly and we are all just loving playing football at the moment.
The Cup match is a big one and then Celtic straight after, that doesn’t get any bigger. So for us we have got to take each game as it comes.
It’s clear from Docherty’s comments that there’s laser focus within the Rangers squad right now and after overcoming the mental challenge of defeat to Hibs, a unity has been forged.
Can they possibly stop Celtic’s march to a second successive treble?
What are their chances?
Scoring 19 goals in their last five matches, it’s apparent that confidence is high right at now at Ibrox and that confidence could be a springboard to major success this season, if they can raise their game to beat Celtic.
The Hoops are still the gatekeepers to any Light Blues success, but with some fragility shown by Brendan Rodgers’ side in recent weeks, you wouldn’t make them a surefire bet to clean sweep Scottish football again.
The Scottish Premiership is likely to be beyond Rangers, even if they win next weekend’s derby, but the Scottish Cup is definitely a winnable trophy.
This weekend’s match against Falkirk should be a comfortable encounter and then it’s off to Hampden for the semi-finals, where anything can happen.
