da bet nacional: According to a report in The Scottish Sun, FC Porto are set to make a fresh bid for Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham this summer, and the Bhoys need to take the opportunity to sell the disappointing Frenchman.
What’s the word, then?
Well, The Scottish Sun report that Porto manager Sergio Conceicao is a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old, and has failed with two attempts to prise the former Manchester City man away from Parkhead – including a rejected £13m bid last summer.
The Scottish Sun reports that the Portuguese giants have identified the Bhoys player to replace the outgoing Hecter Herrera, although they aren’t willing to pay the £14m they were just a few months ago during the January transfer window.
The France U21 international hasn’t quite looked the same player ever since former teammate Moussa Dembele left for Lyon back in August, but he did sign a new four-year contract to stay at Celtic Park in November.
Big opportunity for Celtic
The 23-year-old just hasn’t been the same dominant player on the pitch this term as he has been previously, while he also spent two months on the sidelines with a knee injury earlier in 2019.

Given his disappointing displays when he has been fit however, it wouldn’t have been a surprise if there was no interest in him from other clubs this summer, especially after he signed a long-term deal to stay in Glasgow.
If The Scottish Sun are correct and Porto are ready to come calling for Ntcham for a third time though, Celtic have to take their chance to move the Frenchman on.
He simply hasn’t been good enough this term and has only played 30 minutes of the Scottish Premiership champions’ last three league fixtures, with Callum McGregor and captain Scott Brown preferred by Neil Lennon in the middle of the park.
While it may not be the £14m it could have been, it should still be a reasonable fee that can help Lennon – or another new manager – strengthen his squad with players that clearly want to play for the club ahead of an important 2019/20 campaign.
That is something that is in doubt with Ntcham as things stand, and not too many would be upset if he did go.
