Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has finally received news on his fate from the Football Association this week, and it has left many supporters absolutely fuming.
Football.London reporter Alasdair Gold relayed the news on Twitter that the 23-year-old has been charged with misconduct following his coronavirus-related post to social media.
The England international has a week to respond to the charge, after which the FA commission has a further ten days to decide the final verdict.
Therefore, Alli should be available for Spurs’ matches against Wolves on Sunday as their Europa League return leg at RB Leipzig next week unless he doesn’t contend the charge and accepts whatever punishment is thrown his way.
Here’s how fans have been reacting to Gold’s update…
One supporter sarcastically joked that it was ‘ more good news,’ presumably hinting at the injury crisis involving Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Moussa Sissoko, while another questioned whether the FA actually owned possession of Alli as he was on a non-football break.

“Pathetic” and “woke” were two other words of choice to describe the decision.
Others used the opportunity to slam the midfielder…
“Muppet” and “so, so poor” only emphasised what fans were thinking in north London about their star whereas a further member of the Spurs faithful pondered when the 23-year-old would finally “grow up” after another controversy surrounding him off the pitch.
The circumstances also drew comparisons to a similar situation that occured last year with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, who was pictured allegedly making a Nazi salute in a photo posted on Instagram by a teammate.
He would late go on to escape any charge, although the FA claimed he showed a “lamentable degree of ignorance.”
Some even suggested that Alli ‘played dumb’ and pretended to not know what coronavirus was, in similar vein Hennessey did with his incident.
