da blaze casino: According to Sky Sports, 17-year-old West Ham United attacking midfielder Domingos Quina is attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
da luck: The Irons beat their London neighbours to the signing of the talented teenager from Chelsea last summer, according to Sky Sports, and the exciting youngster was quickly integrated into the first team squad at the London Stadium by Slaven Bilic – featuring in their European fixtures.
Despite being yet to feature in the English top flight, the Portugal Under-19 international has already made a big impression with his club and is currently impressing for his country at the European Under-19 Championships, with his nation due to face England in the final on Saturday.
While the Gunners may want to snap the 17-year-old up a year after they failed with their contract offer, the Hammers will be determined for the youngster to remain in east London.
Here are three reasons West Ham must keep hold of Arsenal target Quina…
Last season
Even though he was just 16 years of age last summer, Quina showed how highly-regarded he already is with West Ham by featuring as a substitute in both legs of their Europa League qualifying win against NK Domzale, while he was an unused substitute on 12 occasions in the Premier League.
The Portugal Under-19 international did make big impression in their Premier League 2 fixtures though, scoring one – a sensational lob from the halfway line against Leicester – and assisting another.
Despite missing the latter stages of the campaign, he was awarded the Dylan Tombides Award for being the outstanding academy player and he looks to have a bright future.
Portugal performances
One of the reasons that Arsenal have reignited their interest in the 17-year-old is because of his performances for his country at this summer’s European Under-19 Championships.
Having won the Under-17 version of the competition in May 2016, Quina could be on the verge of doing it again on Saturday if his nation can beat England.
He has certainly impressed in the middle of the park though, and he put in a man-of-the-match performance in the 2-1 win against the Czech Republic.
Potential
The 17-year-old looks to have fantastic potential and having been on the cusp of making his first Premier League appearance last season, it may well happen for the Portugal Under-19 international this term and he could be a player that would excite the London Stadium crowd.
The midfielder prefers to play in a central midfield role rather than as a number 10 as he wants a little more time on the ball, and it will be interesting to see whether he gets more first team opportunities alongside the likes of Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate as West Ham look to improve on last season’s disappointments.
